This work was exhibited as a surround sound installation with drawings exhibited on the walls.

This is a work that was developed out of staying away from my mother for an extended period for the first time. It evolved out of our daily phone conversations that mainly revolved around our shared routines. It started as an intuitive response to paint someone to simply feel a sense of connection to them. It is a reflection on how the simple act of painting someone, even in a mundane way, can sometimes feel like an act of tenderness and connection with them.
The sounds are a compilation of several months of recording the background sounds audible as my mother went about her day-to-day work while speaking to me or other things that were audible simultaneously.
